Australia Bushfire Info

How to stay safe, secure and healthy while travelling in Australia

Bushfires are currently impacting parts of Australia. We want you to stay safe whilst travelling during this time, so please seek the most up to date information prior to departure, and remain informed about changing conditions whilst on the ground.

You can find a list of the most popular destinations for international travellers here, and whether they have been impacted by bushfires or are safe to visit. However, this is not a complete list of affected areas, so if you are travelling outside these areas, please refer to links to regional sites below.

With our inbuilt vehicle systems, we can track where our customers are on the road and have been proactively reaching out to those in affected areas to ensure everyone is safe, kept up to date, and supported. Thankfully, we can confirm all our customers are safe and well. If you have concerns about an upcoming campervan trip to Australia or questions whilst on the road, please call us for advice. You can also talk to our 24/7 team to find out how you can best enjoy your time in Australia if you are planning on travelling in the near future.

Whilst there are regional locations affected by wildfires there are also lots of areas unaffected that are safe to travel in. If you are thinking about travelling in the near future or have hesitations about your current itinerary plans, there are some great options around Australia - for example, you could try starting your road trip in Perth to visit the coastal areas of Ningaloo or wine region of Margaret River, or explore Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef picking up from Brisbane or Cairns. Equally, Hobart is a great location to experience a bit of everything with mountains, coastlines, unique wildlife and a hidden history to uncover. Talk to our 24/7 team via our freephone numbers for assistance and direction in planning a safe holiday in Australia.

For specific regional advice, updates are available from the following sites.

And for an overview of the areas affected, please see the FireWatch website.

Wondering how you can help?

There are plenty of ways you can help Australia's recovery effort as fire-affected communities get back on their feet. As our partners at Tourism Australia suggest, continuing to travel Australia, buying, eating and spending with local businesses will make an immeasurable difference at this time. Find out more on the initiative here.

There some great community-based initiatives too that support the buy, eat and spend with local businesses idea such as Empty Esky promoting buying whilst you travel instead of stocking up from home or Spend With Them and Roadtrip For Good which provides a platform for businesses to mark themselves as open for business and ready to welcome your custom.

We have decided that supporting the Australian Red Cross is the most effective choice we can make at this time and thus we have made a donation to support their ongoing relief effort. If you would also like to donate, you can do so on the Australian Red Cross website.
