Before you arrive

We believe a smooth pick-up begins before you step on-site to pick up your campervan. As such, we have streamlined the pickup process so that the time from when you book your campervan to when you drive away in your maui campervan is as short and pleasant as possible. With a little preparation, you can ensure that your pick-up day goes smoothly and your adventure begins without a hitch. Here are the steps we recommend completing before arrival to pick up your motorhome:

Complete your self-check-in

Once you have booked your motorhome, the next step in kickstarting your adventure is by completing your self-check-in online. It's a simple step, yet one that promises a smoother transition to the road. Not only will it speed up the check-out process in-branch, but it will also unlock access to a slew of pre-travel emails to get you excited and prepared (including some of our top travel tips and insider hints to help you plan the ultimate trip).

Driver's License

If your driver's licence is not in English then we require an accredited English translation or an International Driver's permit, along with your driver's licence. We must sight both at pick-up otherwise we cannot release the vehicle.

Download the THL Roadtrip App

Downloading the thlRoadtrip App isn't just a good idea - it's an essential part of your van travel experience. Available for both Android and iOS, the app serves as your personal travel assistant right in the palm of your hand. With the app, you can access the step-by-step show-through video of your campervan, learning all the features and functions at your own pace. Plus, the thlRoadtrip App is filled with travel tips, suggested campgrounds, and points of interest and includes an integrated offline-accessible road trip itinerary planner to make planning your adventure as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

Read the rental agreement

To ensure a hassle-free journey in your maui campervan, it's important to familiarise yourself with the rental agreement. The thlRoadtrip App is your go-to resource for accessing this document. A thorough understanding of your rental agreement means you're well-equipped to navigate any twists and turns your trip might throw at you.

Getting to the Branch

After you've completed your self-check-in, read through the rental agreement and downloaded the thlRoadtrip App (and planned and packed to your heart’s content), the next step is picking up your motorhome at a maui branch. Here's what to expect when you arrive on-site to meet your home on wheels and start your adventure:

Once your self-check-in is complete, it's time to make your way to the branch. Transportation Options

If you aren’t driving, there are plenty of options available to cater to your convenience. If you're friends or family nearby, we recommend checking to see if they can drop you off directly at our location and simplify the process even further. If you're flying in, our branches are typically a short taxi or rideshare away from the airport. Services like Uber and Lyft operate widely throughout Australia and provide fast and efficient transport directly to our doorstep. No matter how you arrive, our team will be ready to welcome you and get you on the road in your maui campervan as swiftly as possible. The open road awaits! Visit the branch location page for more information on branch locations and driving times from local airports.

In Branch and Camper Collection

When you arrive at our branch, you’ll be greeted by our friendly team. Just follow the clear signage and instructions to the pick-up area. We encourage only the primary renter to enter the branch for the collection process to maintain a smooth operation. After presenting your driver’s license and credit card, signing the rental agreement, and adding any extra hire items you may need, you’ll be introduced to your campervan. It's an exciting moment, standing beside your home for the next few days or weeks, ready to hit the open road.

Check-In Process

Our check-in process is straightforward: present your driver's license and credit card, sign the rental agreement, and add any extra hire items to your booking. That's it! You're on your way to hitting the road in your maui campervan.

Watch the Show-Through Video

If you haven’t already, before leaving the branch, make sure to watch the show-through video. This personalized tour of your camper is available on the thlRoadtrip App and provides an excellent opportunity to familiarize yourself with the vehicle and ask any lingering questions.

Embarking on Your Journey

Once you have collected your maui campervan, it's time to start your journey. The open road is calling, the campgrounds are waiting, and your epic adventure is about to begin. That being said, be sure to take it easy on the first day. You might be keen to cover as much ground as possible, but it’s a good idea not to drive too far.

Instead, spend this first afternoon unpacking your clothes, get a feel for your campervan, familiarize yourself with its features, stock your camper kitchen with groceries and book your first campsite to ensure a smooth start to your adventure. Enjoy the ride, take in the views, and let the road trip of a lifetime begin!

Remember to book your campsites

While booking a campsite at a holiday park for your first night ensures a comfortable start to your trip, it can also be worthwhile to book your campsites for the length of your trip. Pre-booking your campsites, particularly during peak season, ensures you have a guaranteed spot to rest, recharge and relax. Campsites often offer amenities like power hook-ups, water supply, and bathroom facilities, adding comfort to your trip. Securing your campsites in advance also gives structure to your journey and eliminates the stress of finding a spot to stay. So, while you can relish the freedom a campervan provides, remember to include a bit of planning and book your campsites in advance so you can focus on the excitement of your maui campervan experience.
