What to Expect at Pickup

You can get to the branch from the airport on your day of pick-up with our free transfer bus service – visit your branch location page for more information. We recommend you allow one to two hours at the branch at least to pick up your motorhome. Remember, our branches open at 8am and close at 4.30pm.

You’ll need to show us your driver's licence (and official translation or international licence if non-English licence – these need to be in English). It’s the law to carry your driver's licence (and English translation, if required) at all times when driving in New Zealand.

If you have a foreign licence in a language other than English, please ensure

  • It is current
  • appropriate for a full size motor vehicle (not restricted or learner)
  • and you must also present an accredited English translation.

The translation must be provided by a NZ Transport Agency authorised translation service or a diplomatic representative at a high commission, embassy or consulate, or the authority that issued your overseas licence (an International Driving Permit may be acceptable as a translation if in English).

We can arrange a translation for you at the branch but it will cost you NZ$58 and will create delays with your pick up process.

Be sure you chat to your Local Host about road user charges. Road user charges (RUC) means that anyone using New Zealand's roads contributes towards their upkeep. Most road users pay levies when they buy fuel. Others, such as drivers motorhomes and trucks pay through road user charges. You can buy the Express Return Pack which will include these costs in your drop off.

Remember to let your bank know you are travelling, as this can help you to avoid credit card issues. Credit card surcharges will apply = 2.4% for Visa or MasterCard and 4.6% for American Express. Our transactions are conducted in New Zealand dollars. Please ask your Local Host for more information on pick-up.

You will then get to meet your vehicle with a show-through by one of our Local Hosts; they will tell you all the ins and outs of making the most of your motorhome. There is a lot to take in and we want you to feel comfortable, confident and safe in your vehicle, so take some time to familiarise yourself and ask any questions of our crew before you depart.
