Terms Explained

What is liability?

Accident liability is the maximum dollar amount (cost) which the hirer is responsible to pay per accident. This includes damage to the rental vehicle and any third party property. The accident liability which applies depends upon the option selected by the hirer. The Low Road is included in the daily vehicle hire rate. For a reduced accident liability, the hirer may choose to purchase the The High Road or the Value Pack. It is important to note that irrespective of the option selected, that liability is not limited in some cases which are excluded or if the terms of the Rental Agreement are breached by the hirer and this causes or contributes to any damage.

Important: Be aware that with The Low Road, you will be responsible for costs relating to damage of your motorhome or any third party property if you are responsible for an accident which occurs on your hire. Any costs incurred will be calculated and recovered at end of the hire, regardless of any independent cover you may have.

Exclusions from liability cover

It’s important to be aware that there are some situations where the hirer is responsible for the total cost of any damage in the case of an accident, even if the The High Road or the Value Pack have been purchased. Hirers are responsible for all costs related to:

  • Damage caused where the terms of Rental Contract have not been met by the guest.
  • Damage caused by negligence and/or willful conduct.

  • Damage caused to the RV in any way by part or total water submersion or salt water.

  • Damage caused to tyres and the windscreen except where ‘Value Pack’ or ‘WAP’ has been purchased and applies.

  • Damage caused to the RV when using the RV in contravention of any legislation or regulation controlling vehicular traffic.

  • Damage caused due to a single vehicle rollover except where the ‘Value Pack’ has been purchased and applies.

  • Damage and associated costs with recovery of a bogged vehicle.

  • Damage or loss caused to any personal belongings.

  • Damage or loss caused by a guest's pet.

  • Damage caused due to use of incorrect or contaminated fuel.

  • Damage to the slide out of the RV.

  • Damage to the undercarriage or overhead of the RV except where the ‘Value Pack’ has been purchased and applies.

Road user charge recovery fee - what is it?
